Not 9 to 5 Organization has created Primary Concerns, a course to educate on mental health and unite the hospitality, food and beverage community.

2020 has been a wild year! (Understatement!) We’re still living through uncharted waters and don’t know the full extent of how this year will impact us in the long run. Nothing could have prepared us for this year and it’s everyone’s first pandemic.

Β

Change is the only constant.

Β

Not 9 to 5 has listened and adapted in response to the mental health challenges we’re all feeling. Our industry is one of hardest hit. These times have impacted us all and no one is unaffected. Pre-pandemic our industry was already one of the worst for rates of mental health crisis and substance use. Now factoring in the increased isolation, financial disparity and uncertainty among others, we must acknowledge that we all need some help.

Β

To address this emergency, we sought out funding in April and were successfully awarded funding in August. The aim was toΒ create an online course to educate and empower hospitality workers and employers on mental health and substance use literacy and support skills.Β

Β

We’re excited to announce our course, Primary Concerns, is ready and available free in 2020.

Β

We see a real need for further education and awareness around mental health and substance use. For too long our industry has been plagued with stigma around these topics. To distribute the course, Not 9 to 5 created CNECTing, and educational platform to provide mental health literacy and training for support skills.

Β

CNECT stands for Change Needs Everyone Coming Together.

Β

We are excited to share this with you, and start working towards building meaningful connections to help inspire change.
