Historically, the 2SLGBTQ+ community has been marginalized and excluded from the hospitality industry and society at large. Support from a 2SLGBTQ+ trauma-informed resource is key to validating your experience. Resources that are affirming can help you identify and heal from sexual identity and sexual orientation trauma. If you identify as 2SLGBTQ+ and have experienced mental and/or emotional injury from an individual or the greater system of oppression, remember that there are resources out there for you.
GLOBAL
The It Gets Better Project’s mission is to uplift, empower, and connect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) youth around the globe. The It Gets Better Project is a global non-profit that reaches millions of young people each year through inspiring media programming, educational resources, international affiliates in 19 countries, and access to an arsenal of community-based service providers.
GLAAD Social Media Safety Index
GLAAD’s SMSI marks the first-ever base line evaluation of of the 2SLGBTQ+ user safety experience across the social media landscape. Their findings show that the prevalence and intensity of hate speech and harassment are the most urgent problems. They provide recommendations for social media companies to take meaningful action so these platforms are safe for 2SLGBTQ+ users. Published in 2021.
UNITED STATES
The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people. 2SLGBTQ+ Support & Social Group USA
A resource website for the 2SLGBTQ+ Community, and they have chapters in Clinton, New Jersey and Tallahassee, Florida. They host monthly meetings where 2SLGBTQ youth, teens, young adults and adults can come together in a safe, accepting, and judgement-free environment to discuss issues of concern to them, socialize, play games, watch movies, or just hang out in a stress-free safe space.
Queer Life Space provides evidence-based training & affordable queer mental health services for the 2SLGBTQ+ community in San Francisco and beyond. For Queer People. By Queer People. They offer individual therapy, group therapy, and couples therapy.
NORTH AMERICA
The Mental Health Coalition’s Roadmap to LGBTQ+ Mental Health
The Mental Health Coalition and Universal Music Group have partnered together for Pride Month and created a guide on LGBTQ+ mental health for the LGBTQ+ community, allies, and anyone who wants to learn more.
Trans Lifeline provides trans peer support for a community that’s been divested from police since day one. They’re run by and for trans people.

Abolition Centered Care Provider Database
A collective resource of of abolition-centered, non-carceral care providers (therapists, social workers, peer supporters, healers) that are dedicated to providing care outside of oppressive systems (i.e. law enforcement, forced hospitalization, the psychiatric industrial complex).

Egale’s mission is to improve the lives of 2SLGBTQ+ people in Canada and to enhance the global response to 2SLGBTQ+ issues. They do this by informing public policy, inspiring cultural change, and promoting human rights and inclusion through research, education, awareness and legal advocacy.
Rainbow Health Ontario creates opportunities for the healthcare system to better serve 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
